Always Pan vs. Caraway: Settled

The two internet cookware brands answer the same instinct, a prettier and PFAS-free stove, with opposite products. Our Place bets everything on one pan doing ten jobs. Caraway bets on a matched set doing the whole cabinet. Same coating chemistry, same design-forward audience, genuinely different purchases. Settled below.

Where they’re identical

Both run ceramic nonstick over aluminum, free of PTFE and the rest of the PFAS family, and both obey the category’s rule: the coating is a consumable, good for one to three years depending on care, and excluded from both brands’ warranties. Neither sears. Both trade on looks and both deliver them. Whichever way this settle goes, the care rules and the chemistry apply unchanged.

Where they split

Scope. Caraway’s $395 core set is a fry pan, sauté pan, and two lidded pots, a functioning stove minus the searing slot. The $150 Always Pan is one 10.5 inch pan whose lid, steamer, and strainer stretch it across many jobs but never into being four vessels at once. One is a kitchen decision, the other is a slot decision.

Hardware. Caraway’s inclusions solve storage, magnetic racks and lid holders that owners rank just behind the looks. Our Place’s inclusions solve counter clutter, the steam-and-strain modules that make its 10-in-1 claim honest.

Policies. Our Place clearly wins: a 100 day return window and a 3 year ceramic warranty on recent purchases, against Caraway’s 30 days and 1 year.

Real cost. Caraway’s set runs $395 steadily. The Always Pan lists at $150 and sits near $95 on sale for much of the year, so the true gap between “the set” and “the pan” is usually about $300.

The verdict

Equipping a kitchen, or replacing a cabinet of mismatched coated pans in one move: Caraway, and the storage system is the underrated half of the answer. Adding one hardworking piece to a kitchen that already has its stainless and its pots, or cooking small: the Always Pan, and its policies mean the decision carries almost no risk. The full individual verdicts are in our Always Pan review and our Caraway review, and every tier of the category is ranked in the ceramic shortlist.

Frequently asked

Is Caraway or Our Place better?
They sell different things. Caraway is the better full-set purchase, four pieces plus a storage system for $395. Our Place makes the better single pan, the 10-in-1 Always Pan with a 100 day return window. Decide whether you are buying a stove or a slot.
Do the Always Pan and Caraway use the same coating?
Both use PFAS-free ceramic nonstick over aluminum, with comparable chemistry and comparable lifespans of one to three years depending on care. Neither brand escapes the category’s replacement cycle.
Which has better return and warranty terms?
Our Place, clearly. 100 day returns and a 3 year ceramic warranty on recent purchases, against Caraway’s 30 days and 1 year. For a coated product, that difference has real value.
Can either pan replace stainless steel?
No. Both are ceramic coated and capped well below searing temperatures. Every kitchen still wants one uncoated pan for browning, and the coated piece handles eggs, delicate fish, and steam work.
